Youth from organizations consisting of HHN2L, Future AncestorsThe Real Young Prodigy's and more created the chance to raise the voices, concerns and questions to mayoral and metro council candidates running in the 2026 election.
Housed inside Baxter Community Center, the Youth Voices Speak event was a puzzle piece during campaign season. Antonio T-Made Taylor, operator of Young Prodigy's said, "it's important that the youth are heard by these candidates because their voices matter". Oren Hatchett moderated the evening as he and a group of youth asked questions of each candidate about public safety, education, data centers, public awareness, Immigration & Customs Enforcement and more.
Invitations were sent out to each mayoral and metro council candidate and concluding with mayoral candidate Shameka Parrish-Wright, district 7 metro council incumbent Paula McCraney, metro council candidate JaRee Gardner, metro council candidate Kumar Rashad and current Councilman for district 4 Ken Herndon who, for clarity, was not a candidate.
We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future.
Educators, parents and individuals who run organizations that directly effect the youth were in the crowd with most hoping and ready to plan for another youth forum.
