Go DJ, That's My DJ

“It’s okay not to be okay.” –Prince Harry

Three men had a desire to create an event to give youth a positive outlet before heading back to the next school year. DJ Lil Carl, Antonio T-Made Taylor and Sunny Bleu came together to create a positive night the youth would never forget. Sadly just a few days before the event would take place, DJ Lil Carl’s life would come to a tragic end. Over the next few days the communal spirit would continue to spread throughout the community of Louisville. Much like that uplifting communal spirit, the 502 Back 2 School Youth Party would continue as well.

Housed inside of the Portal Louisville, Antonio T-Made Taylor, Sonny Bleu, Angie, the owners of Portal and more would help make the youth party an amazing night for the youth, the parents and many more. From dancing, music, art, mourning, friends, the amount of youth who attended, fun and pleasant memories, the mission of the event was be achieved.

DJ Lil Carl's impact could be heard in different places throughout the city of Louisville on July 25th and not the least of which was the Dirt Bowl. The Dirt Bowl, which is a basketball tournament that takes place in Shawnee Park, took time to honor Carl Yelder by playing his music and encouraging everyone to take time to honor and remember him. Whether it was chants of some of his favorite phrases, dancing to his favorite songs, you could feel the positive impact that DJ Lil Carl had on the Dirt Bowl and all those who chose to attend it.

“Inspire the youth and the future will be bright.” —  –Antonio T-Made Taylor

At 8pm in Louisville, KY, hundreds of people gathered at Waterfront Park to honor Carl Yelder with a balloon release. His family took lead and hundreds of people who remembered, loved and supported Carl joined them to release a balloon in his honor. Dancing took place, music was played, memories were shared and the event itself will never be forgotten. Many then took to the Grüv to continue the night of celebrating the life of Carl Yelder aka DJ Lil Carl.

A Go Fund Me has been created in order to further support and help the family of Carl Yelder. If you would like to support, please do so by clicking here.
